Assist UK



National representative body for Disabled Living Centres in the UK

AIMS:
Assist UK is the National Network for advice on Independent Living Equipment.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE:
Assist UK leads a UK wide network of locally-situated Disabled Living Centres. Most centres include a permanent exhibition of products and equipment that provide people with opportunities to see and try products and equipment and get free and impartial information and advice from professional staff about what might suit them best.
Assist UK also offer training courses linked to services provided by members.

There are five disabled living centres in Scotland providing specialist information on aids and equipment as well as other disability related enquiries.

AIMS:
To provide a regular forum for raising issues relating to disability, research and campaigning to improve services for disabled people.

- Disability information and advice service
- Networking group for disabled people living in Fife
- Bi-monthly meetings held throughout Fife
- Disabled Women's Group meets 1st Tuesday of each month.

To work in partnership with adults and carers to develop support networks appropriate to their needs.

The purpose of this service is to promote the welfare of its members by enabling each individual to live as independent and self fulfilling a life as possible within their own community.

- Early onset dementia project supports people with dementia
- Activities on offer include computing, day trips, gardening, video work, internet access and internet access
