Inverclyde Centre for Independent Living

AIMS:
To offer people with a disability opportunities to become
self reliant and to achieve maximum participation in the
community.
SERVICES PROVIDED:
- Information service
- Occupational therapy assessments including paediatric
service
- Independent living services
- Community rehabilitation services
- Community care assessments
- Services for hearing impaired / deaf clients
- Services for visually impaired clients
- Support visits
COMMUNITY CARE ASSESSMENTS:
Clients who are referred to any member of the team at
Inverclyde Centre will have a community care assessment
carried out if appropriate. This will identify clients and
/ or carers needs and enable the appropriate services to be
provided. These include day care, respite care, practical
assistance within the home and permanent care.

Monday - Thursday, 8.45am - 4.45pm
Friday - 8.45am - 4.00pm.

Inverclyde Council on Disability
Provide information and advice from mobility issues to
accessible holidays and leisure activities
Also known as: ICOD
AIMS:
To help everyone increase their level of understanding of
disability issues and encourage integration in its fullest
sense between disabled and non disabled people in our
community.
SERVICES PROVIDED:
- Provide information and advice on a range of topics, from
mobility issues to accessible holidays and leisure
activities
- Shopmobility service (see separate entry for Inverclyde
Shopmobility)
- Visually impaired people guiding service (see separate
entry for Inverclyde Shopmobility)
- Also provide a voice for disabled people in Inverclyde by
campaigning on issues raised by members
- Deliver training on the Disability Discrimination Act and
provide a package of Disability Equality Training
- Can provide an Access Report Service
- Hire out a range of loop equipment to help hearing aid
users participate in a variety of settings.
MEMBERSHIP / COSTS:
Membership is free, though for Shopmobility members the
cost is ?25.00 per annum for use of equipment. ?5.00 one
off visitor payment.
PUBLICATIONS:
LinkAbility is published on a quarterly basis.
