Assist UK is the National Network for advice on Independent
Living Equipment.
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE:
Assist UK leads a UK wide network of locally-situated
Disabled Living Centres. Most centres include a permanent
exhibition of products and equipment that provide people
with opportunities to see and try products and equipment and
get free and impartial information and advice from
professional staff about what might suit them best.
Assist UK also offer training courses linked to services
provided by members.
There are five disabled living centres in Scotland providing
specialist information on aids and equipment as well as
other disability related enquiries.

Provides a resource on local community care and health
services

AIMS:
To provide a community care and health information service.
SERVICES PROVIDED:
CareData maintains a database of information relevant to the
Grampian area, which is available online. Information
available includes areas such as NHS services, social
services, voluntary groups, leisure and recreation
facilities, employment, education and training, local
authorities and housing.
OPENING HOURS:
Monday - Friday, 9.00am - 4.30pm (Answer machine at all
other hours).
MEMBERSHIP COSTS:
Information is provided free of charge to users and to
organisations / services who provide information for the
database.

Macmillan Citizens Advice Bureau Partnership (The)
Provide practical guidance and support on a variety of
concerns, including benefits to people affected by cancer

AIMS:
To work in partnership with other relevant organisations to
help ease financial, personal and family pressures on people
with cancer, their carers and family members.
SERVICES PROVIDED:
- Inform people about their rights and advise on the options
available to them and the practical consequences of
different courses of action
- Provide practical guidance and support on a variety of
concerns, including benefits, housing, insurance, debt,
employment, representation,
sign-posting, negotiation, Macmillan Grants, 'what if'
calculations and general community care issues
- Work closely with cancer support groups.
OPENING HOURS:
Monday - Friday, 9.00am - 5.00pm (answering service
available at other times.)

Moray Resource Centre (Disabled Living Centre)
Provide information on equipment and other disability
related matters

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE:
There is a small range of specialist aids and equipment
related to all aspects of disability on display at the
Centre. Appointments can be made with a Resource Worker to
advise and assess a person's independent living needs
regarding the suitability of equipment.
OPENING HOURS:
Monday - Thursday, 8.40am - 5.00pm
Friday, 8.40am - 4.30pm
(Appointments are necessary).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The building also houses a specialised day and outreach
service for people with a physical and / or sensory
disability, who wish to have the opportunity to develop
their skills and aspirations.
