Frequently asked questions

Our Frequently asked questions section answers many of the common enquiries we receive. You can find information about subjects such as travel, benefits, holidays, and self directed support.

Factsheets

Our factsheets provide useful guidance on topics that we are asked about regularly

Helplines

UPDATE operate two helplines; one for members of the public and the other for our subscribing members. If you are unable to find the answer to your query from our website you can call our helpline.

Links

Our website also provides visitors with a range of website links to other, non-commercial, disability related websites. The range of sites includes access, benefits, disability, equality and more.

Directories

We have a range of online directories available giving information about local disability information providers. You can look up disability information services in your own area, find out about local access panels, check the local support organisations for self directed support, find suppliers of alternative information formats and more.

The Access Guide

We produce an Access Guide giving details of the measurements and layout of building fixtures and fittings in order to make access easier for disabled people. This wall chart is available from our website as a PDF download.

News and Events

Our News & Events section gives the latest disability related news stories in the media; as well as the latest events taking place.

Members' Area

Members visiting the website have access to our full range of online resources. More information about these services is available on the Membership page.
